A lot going on this weekend

The girls are well....no more sickness in the house....yay!
However it extends to our family....my mother in law has a heart attack Thurs night and Praise God she is doing well....they replaced a stent and she should be coming home today or tomorrow....I talk to my mom on Friday....my stepdad had a heart cath and that turned out well..no probs....my mom however has Shingles and is in a lot of pain...that stuff must be the devil! Sydnie was in a fashion show on Saturday...showing off a beautiful brown dress from Bedazzle...thanks Raj! After grabbing some lunch and preparing to go visit my mother in law... we discover that my husbands cousin has been beat on Friday night early hrs of Sat.....and is at the same hosp.......It appears that he was jumped by 4 guys but supposedly only 2 are completely involved. They have removed all of his tubes today and is slowly letting him wake up....he is not speaking but is nodding and giving the ok sign that he understands what they are saying to him. He has staples in the back of his head....the dr said he has had a major blow to the head and that he will most likely have to learn some things all over again. Please keep him in your prayers.
Still planning on our IEP on Wednesday....please pray that we get this over with and everyone stays well to have this meeting behind us!

Well we had another day off from school due to snow.....Im assuming we'll be making up yesterday on Memorial Day....ughhh I hate that! Tomorrow we are on a 2 hr delay and had an IEP meeting scheduled....how wonderful is that? So we're planning to reschedule that...
Took Syd to the doctor today cause her throat looked horrible....bless her never complained except for an occational headache. I was getting her dressed for the doctor when I noticed her chest completely covered in a rash.....if I didnt know she had Strep before I knew it then......sooooooo he offered us the shot vs the meds for a week..woohoooo
She hasnt ever had the shot but I got it the last time I got strep...wasnt sure how it would go getting her on her stomach for such a momentus occation......after calm conversation and assuring her I was only doing this because I knew it would make her feel better .....she continued to be reluctant....so with a 1, 2, 3.....I got her flipped over on the bed...with her looking back at them.....I kept saying Syd look at mama...syd....with that.....she gave me 3 good pops in the jaw LOLOL......a few times when she's been really nervous or held...she has thrown a fist to the back....but at least she takes each thing with good stride....lol...never to hurt me. She immed apologized to me and thanked them for her shot! She said ouch....but that was it....what a trooper! So my girl should be feeling better soon....
Saylor was having a grand ol time helping file charts or whatever they had her doing up front...haha...

End the R-Word Day is a day to raise awareness around the world about the hurtful and derogatory nature of the word "retard(ed)." Facebook users can go to Facebook and type in the search box 'Campaign to Ban "R" Word' (this is listed as a cause) and you can also search for 'End the R-Word Day 3.31.09' (this is listed as an event). You can join/RSVP and then keep checking those links for updates. I will also post updates on this blog as I get them and you can click here for an earlier post.
The hubs and I have emailed the contact person below and I'll post an update when I hear back from them. I MUST HAVE a shirt (see the Special Olympics email address below to order as I have no further information about how to get them) and want to see what I as an old lady and Mark as a professor can do to get involved in this youth driven event.
All of us have a role to play in making the world a more accepting place for people with intellectual disabilities.
Take a day to use more accepting language.
Take a day tell your friends to do the same.
Take a day to embrace the humanity of all people.
Take a day to end the R-word.
Spread the Word to End the Word.
WHAT IS END THE R-WORD DAY?
End the R-Word Day is a day to collect pledges to acknowledge the hurtful nature of the words "retard(ed)" and to end the casual and pejorative uses of the word.
"This is by no means an effort to ban a word legally but rather by way of societal consensus. That is, we are trying to educate people about the hurtful consequences of the R-word and asking that people, once informed, CHOOSE not to use it. We are not language police. We are educators. After you learn about the effects that the R-word has on people with disabilities and their families, I hope that you will remove it from your vocabulary. In the end, that is all I can ask." HOW CAN I BE INVOLVED WITH END THE R-WORD DAY?
College Students
If you are a college student, you can lead End the R Word Day on your campus. If you are interested in distributing t-shirts, posters, buttons, etc. to raise awareness on your campus, send your name and contact information to Special Olympics College at SOCollege@specialolympics.org
High School Students
If you are in high school, you can hang posters, coordinate a school assembly, wear t-shirts, and pass out buttons and stickers. If you would like to host End the R-Word Day at your school, contact us at SOCollege@specialolympics.org
If you would like to champion End the R Word Day at your school, send an email with your contact information to SOCollege@specialolympics.org and you will be sent more information and an order form to get End the R Word Day t-shirts.

DADDY DAUGHTER PRINCESS DATE NIGHT FEB 20, 2009

Hey Folks just wanted to share some photos with you of the Daddy Daughter Princess Date we had at church....they rolled out the red carpet for this event....too bad the moms werent there to take pics :(.....however they enjoyed getting all dressed up and spending an evening out with Daddy.

Rainy day

Gooood morning folks! Its a rainy day here....and calling for snow..can you believe that? We're just hanging out here at the house....its days like this I constantly look for food. lol

We're working up towards Sydnie's IEP Wednesday, you know how bad we hate those. I pray all goes well.

Happy Valentines Day!

I cant seem to keep this thing going....when we had the other site it was always active....seems like blogspot blows my mind for whatever reason haha

We are enjoying our busy time together....the girls love school and work very hard. Sydnie is in regular 2nd grade and is doing really well.....she has grown up so much. She is currently taking tumbling......she will be participating in her first Special Olympics this Spring. We are all very excited about that!

Saylor is in the 4 yr old preschool at the same school as Sydnie. She absolutely loves it....she goes all day which was a change from her half day...(or so I thought) but she has never skipped a beat. All I hear is when will I be big like Sydnie...dont rush it Say Say it will be here before you know it! Saylor is also taking tumbling and loves it very much!

Summer Time

Well here we are over half way in to summer....where has the time gone? We've enjoyed being home and hanging out together. The girls have started tumbling and love it...Syd I believe just might be ready to go back to school but boy Im not ready! Saylor will be starting the preschool program at the same school and she is sooo excited. The reality of her being there all day is becoming all to real....Im sure she will do just fine because all Ive heard is I want to go to SYDNIE'S SCHOOL!!! So say a little prayer that this year will go well for both girls.
